Vernon Castle is a third-generation Californian and retired science educator who writes historical and speculative fiction. Born in 1951, he grew up in Los Angeles and attended UCLA as a pre-med student, eventually graduating with a B.S. in Zoology. He spent 30 years as a science teacher before retiring to focus on writing in 2013. He previously managed his own high-fidelity audio component business. Following his time at UCLA, he spent a decade traveling through Europe and Indonesia, which deeply influenced his worldview and writing. His work often incorporates his interests in Buddhism, genetics, and ecology.
