Born in Santa Felicia, Marianao, La Habana, Cuba, Ana Rodríguez Machado lives and writes in Tkaronto/Toronto, Canada. Her poems have appeared in Brick, The Malahat Review, Hooligan Mag, Contemporary Verse 2, PRISM international, and elsewhere, and have been finalists for the CBC Poetry Prize, PEN Canada's New Voices Award, and The Malahat Review's Far Horizons Prize in Poetry. She completed her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Guelph. the island on my back is her first book.
