DAVID WONG LOUIE (1954-2018) was the author of Pangs of Love, winner of the Los Angeles Times First Fiction Award and the Ploughshares First Book Award. He received an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa in 1981 and an A.B. from Vassar College in 1977. He taught at Vassar College and the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2001, he was awarded a Lannan Literary Fellowship. He has also had a fellowship with the National Foundation for the Advancement of Arts. His short story "Displacement" was included in 100 Years of the Best American Short Stories (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015).

VIET THANH NGUYEN is the author of The Sympathizer, a New York Times bestseller, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He is a university professor, the Aerol Arnold Chair of English, and a professor of English, American Studies and Ethnicity, and Comparative Literature at the University of Southern California.
