The book I am presenting to readers, titled "Renewing the Promise: A New Vision for Eritrea," serves as a continuation of my first book, "Eritrea's Hard-won Independence and Unmet Expectations." It delves into the overarching theme of reconciling the unfulfilled aspirations of social justice with the enduring struggle to ensure sovereignty and national unity. The book scrutinizes the questions raised and critically evaluates developments across the political, economic, social, cultural, and geopolitical spheres. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the key objectives related to pre- and post-system changes in Eritrea, the framework for reconstruction, and the priorities that should be established.
Comprising 15 chapters, the book is structured to provide an in-depth examination of the aforementioned questions. Each chapter complements and connects with the others to offer a comprehensive approach. The chapters aim to shed light on the developments in political, economic, social, cultural, and growth trajectories, as well as geopolitical spheres, since independence. Additionally, to define and understand the nature of the system, the book references studies and analyses conducted by scholars and experts on this subject.
