Sierra Quinn was pumped about two things when she awoke on a late spring Sunday morning-her husband was due home that evening after another two weeks on the road and she was to start a new job tomorrow. She and Jerry were now empty-nesters. Sierra had taken some computer classes at Big Moon Community college and managed to land a job in the IT department of Black Industries, a local manufacturing company. She was ready for a new challenge, to get out of the house and meet some new people. She was nervous but excited.
Jerry was a national sales rep for an auto parts supplier and his job kept him on the road more and more in the current economic recession. Their sex life was almost non-existent lately. Sierra was looking forward to some horizontal recreation that evening.
A good day went to hell when Jerry called that morning and said he wanted a divorce. And, yes, it was another woman.
Cole Black, the president of Black Industries, was fighting to save his company-from the recession, the Chinese, his banker, and his business partner. His ex-wife ran away with his former chief engineer some years ago.
Sierra vows to build a new life as she starts working at BI. As Cole fights to save his company he develops a strong attraction to his new hire. When he pushes her for a commitment she declines, saying she needs to be independent for a while.
