To everyone else, Landry is snarky, put together and takes no shit from anyone... So how is it that the new deputy in town is able to see right through the mask that no one else has?

Everywhere she turns, Deputy Jamie Clarke is there ready to write her another ticket for supposed speeding and to give her a lecture on people caring about her and her safety.

But why should he care? How is he able to see through her crumbling facade so easily?

She doesn't know whether she wants to kiss the asshole or run him over with his own truck. But when things come to a head and she's drowning in the darkness with no way out. He might be the only one that can help her escape. But that would also mean telling him the truth about everything.

It was supposed to be a quiet transfer. Just a job as a small-town deputy to try and relax and recover from the loss of his partner. But Jamie hadn't been in town more than ten minutes before he's nearly run off the road by a speeding biker. The last thing Jamie expected was to fall head over dirt bikes for the wildcat redhead.

He can see beneath the surface. He can see that she's hiding something from those around her. Her friends, her brother. All of them. But he can see that there is more to Landry than she lets on and he's determined to find out what's wrong before it's too late.
