It's a breath-holding love story about a young Jewish woman, who, along with her father escape from their internment at a concentration camp in Germany during World War II. Annetta Aldrich, a strong-willed person with a heart of gold manages to find a way out of the death camp destiny had put her in. Anyway, with the help of a German officer and a few other good men and women sympathetic to the Jewish people, she and her father escape the hell they were dealing in Germany, and eventually make it to America to start a new life for themselves but along the way, Annetta falls in love with a handsome young Italian lawyer, Roberto Alessandro, who promise's to marry her once his obligations at home were fulfilled. Nothing goes as planned and he enlists in the Armed Forces but is soon listed as missing in action so Annetta travels to South America to be with the German officer who helped her and her father get out of Germany because Andreas is the father of her son. Anyway, before long, Annetta finds out Roberto is still alive and then she's torn between staying with Andreas or going to Europe to be with the man she loves.She decides to go to Europe, where she marries the man she considered to be the love of her life, Mr. Roberto Alessandro, only to find a short time later she had married into the mafia. At any rate, distraught and at wits end, she unknowingly has an affair with Enrique Santino, the son of the sworn enemy of her husband. What happens then is unimaginable, however through it all Annetta and Roberto manage to stay together and with the assistance of Inspector Bussard, Enrique Santino is brought to justice and the Alessandro family goes to America where they live happily ever after.
