el-Sayed el-Aswad has taught at Wayne State University, Tanta University, Bahrain University and United Arab Emirates University. He is currently a member of editorial advisory boards of the Digest of Middle East Studies (DOMES), Muslims in Global Societies Series, Journal of Social Sciences (Kuwait University), Tabsir: Insight on Islam and the Middle East, CyberOrient, International Journal of Islam, Studies in Linguistics, Culture, and FLT. He received his PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and has published widely in both Arabic and English including Religion and Folk Cosmology and Muslim Worldviews and Everyday Lives.
