An abandoned train station...a mysterious will...what happens when the past catches up with the present?
Gillian Byrne intends to spend exactly one day in St. Edmunds after being called back to her hometown to settle a will. Being pulled away from her much-loved job in the southwest as a script doctor is seriously inconvenient and far from her desire. Not to mention, making the unexpected discovery of a murder in an abandoned railway station as she drives into town is very much not part of her agenda.
Being back in the place she hadn't seen in years feels strange to her. Everyone knows her name. Then to learn the will she is there to settle belongs to her grandfather in Canada is startling. She had never met him. The will's contents insist she stay in town and work on the unsolved death of his daughter, her mother. It made no sense. Why now? It had happened so long ago, two decades before--how could she find out anything? Why try?
Meanwhile, the mystery of the victims in the train station deepens, opening up events a killer is very intent on keeping hidden.
Gillian needs to break through it all and in the process, begins to wonder where she really belongs. Her journey surprises her as it brings in the help of caring friends, a man called Raven, and the welcome presence of a Parson Russell terrier named Finn.
