In his poem "The Phantom Ship" --Henry Wadsworth Longfellow immortalized the appearance in the sky of a ship lost at sea in 1647 between New Haven Colony and London. In Froebel-Parker's book a grandmother, a descendant of Capt. George Lamberton, recounts the story to her attentive grandchildren, while explaining to them the stories of other colonial New England ancestors and their own ship adventures.
