In this work, José Ribé presents various clinical cases and offers a solid theoretical framework that, in a collaborative relationship with the patient, advocates a relational prescription of psychiatric medication. For years, psychiatry has become an increasingly distorted discipline. Many professionals have become simple prescribers of drugs and have thus lost the ability to feel and think about the therapeutic relationship with their patients. Psychodynamic psychopharmacology understands the psychiatric drug as one more element of the therapeutic relationship. This allows it to assess the meanings and relational phenomena that the medication arouses. Furthermore, as a complement to a biological approach, this integration between psychopharmacology and psychoanalysis personalizes the prescription and singularizes the patient while allowing for greater pharmacological efficacy, beyond the mere chemical action of the pill.
