Dr. Ida Acuña-Garza recently retired as chief executive officer of the South Texas Literacy Coalition. She is the owner of Successful Lifestyles, LLC, an educational consulting firm. With over forty years of experience in community outreach, she holds a doctorate in adult education from Texas A&M University in College Station, a master's degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Texas-Pan American, and a bachelor's degree in home economics from Texas A&M University in Kingsville. Dr. Acuña-Garza is also the author of several bilingual (English/Spanish) children's books, including The Adventures of Callie series, The Cat Who Ate Spinach, Super Copper: Yoga Cat, From the Windowpane: A Book About the Pandemic, and The Birthday Party. She has additional books currently being edited for publication.
