The autumn of Denver 1997 finds the Court and Community of Spring Castle enjoying their hard-won peace and prosperity of their collective struggles of the previous year. Friendships deepen, loves grow, and dreams begin to be realized.
However, with little warning, all of that is thrown into jeopardy by machinations and vendettas far older than any of the Afterliving or their allies. Plunged into the middle of it all is young, idealistic and dedicated Sheriff's Deputy Emerret Moore, who leads a double life as the Deputy Reaper of Eden.
As the tempo and gravity of events begin to swirl like an early fall blizzard, Emerret finds his friendship with Dämonvülf Healer Rosie Stennard deepening and growing into more. As the tensions and dangers rise, so do their attraction for each other.
