The Rev . Dr. F. Lee Jones graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Economics from the College of Wooster,
in Wooster, Ohio. He spent two years in Chicago, IL, working in
banking, before recognizing how important it was to pursue a higher
level of education. He decided to attend graduate school in pursuit of
a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance at Kent State
University, Kent, Ohio. While attending Kent State he worked as a
Financial Planning Manager in corporate America.
After spending twenty-two years in various financial management
roles, Dr. Jones was called to serve in the ministry. He recognized the
importance of serving God's kingdom and, in November 1993, was
ordained to faithful service as a deacon at Peoples Baptist Church of
Boston, MA. In 1997 he enrolled in seminary, on a part-time basis, at
Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS), while maintaining his
corporate interests.
Dr. Jones served as a Student Pastor at First Baptist Church in
Woburn, MA, for three years, as part of his field education studies at
ANTS. He was responsible primarily for conducting a Bible Study,
worship leadership, and visitation of the sick & shut-ins. In May 2001,
when his growing seminarian studies limited his ability to serve his
diaconate duties, Dr. Jones was licensed as a Minister at Peoples Baptist
Church. In May 2003 he graduated from ANTS, where he was a George
Kelsey scholar for three years, with a Master of Divinity degree. In
June 2006 he was ordained a Reverend and in 2009 he graduated from
ANTS with a Doctor of Ministry degree.
Dr. Jones also recognized the importance of community service.
He served as a volunteer director on two boards of community nonprofit
organizations for eight years, performing various roles including
Chairman of the Finance Committee and Treasurer of a non-profit
D146E
substance abuse rehabilitation agency. Concurrently, he maintained his
practice as a financial consultant primarily responsible for reconciling
corporate cash accounts for several small, intermediate, and large
companies.
However, the Lord's calling upon his life made him realize the need
to listen to God's will. It was evident that God wanted him to stop
climbing the corporate ladder, and preferably, ascend Jacobs' Ladder.
So, in April 2004, Dr. Jones was called to become Interim Covenantal
Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell, MA, and in April 2009
he completed his five-year tenure there. During his pastorate over forty
members were either baptized into the fellowship of believers, joined
based on Christian experience, or returned after leaving under the
pastorate of prior ministers. He was called to Interim Ministry at First
Baptist Church of Sharon shortly thereafter where he remained for
nearly two years.
Dr. Jones returned to the ministerial staff of Peoples Baptist Church
in 2012 and served as Treasurer and Bookkeeper for the specific reason
that he had substantial financial experience. He oversaw the successful
completion of a financial review in 2014, a successful audit of financials
in 2015. Responding to his pastoral heart, he was concurrently made
responsible for the visitation of members in nursing homes and hospitals.
Dr. Jones was also a provisional technology instructor for Boston Public
Schools (BPS) during the 2001-2002 school year; a substitute in BPS
from 2002-2010 while attending seminary; and has been an educator
from 2011 to the present who has taught LEGO Robotics Engineering
in early childhood and middle school autism strand in BPS.
