Organic Lasers and Organic Photonics (Second Edition), presents a unique integrated and updated perspective on the field of organic sources of coherent radiation from high-average power (multi kW), and high-pulse energy (~1 kJ), to miniaturized organic lasers and coherent sources. Although the emphasis is on tunable narrow-linewidth lasers, many other sources, with a variety of organic gain media, are considered. The presentation also focuses on electrically-pumped organic semiconductor coherent sources, their physics and technology. Next, a pragmatic review of organic photonics, including numerous exciting applications, leads to an extensive, authoritative, and notable chapter on organic dyes for optogenetics which provides an up-to-date description of this exciting field. This is followed by a chapter on organic lasers and organic molecules for medicine which also describes light sheet illumination techniques yielding extremely elongated laser beams (up to 3000:1). This second edition concludes with two related quantum optics chapters. First, an updated chapter on quantum organic lasers as sources of ensembles of indistinguishable photons, with orthogonal polarizations, for quantum entangle-ment communications. This is followed by a brief chapter on intrinsic quantum coherent emission that is relevant to the preceding chapter and also to the chapter on coherent emission from electrically excited organic semiconductors. In all, thirteen (13) of the sixteen (16) chapter include relevant and original problems.
