For the first time since the birth of rock and roll in the USA more than 60 years ago, Western pop music's world domination has been challenged. Leading the charge are the seven shining South Korean stars who form the K-Pop phenomenon BTS - the highest grossing boy band in the world.
In just over a decade the BTS boys - RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook - have built on their success in their South Korean homeland to storm the charts around the world. They have chalked up sales of more than 50 million albums, made number one on iTunes charts in more than 100 countries, and become the first and only group to surpass 37 billion streams on Spotify.
Between 2022 and 2025, BTS achieved something unprecedented: they remained the world's biggest group even while fulfilling mandatory South Korean military service. All seven members completed their duty, using the time to release successful solo albums and prove themselves as individual artists.
In January 2026, with all members reunited, BTS announced their triumphant return with a new album and a historic 70-date world tour across five continents.
