When Saffron Wilson returns from France she feels different. She is delighted that she has had the opportunity to see the world. Upon returning to Robi's Flying Saucer Drive-In to work after school and on weekends, she finds Mrs. Imbeault rather distracted. Fred and Cecilia meet at the restaurant sparking a new interest in each other. Saffron is not keen on it.

One Sunday after work she helps her mother carry some rotisserie chickens from the restaurant to Bonaventura High School, where the Sisters are having their luncheon.

While Saffron waits outside, she spies an old man in a monk's outfit sneaking in the entrance near the library. Of course, she follows him.

What transpires is out of this world. The monk brought an ancient relic to Sister Maris Stella but she is unable to keep it safe. The old nun knows that Saffron has seen something, so she asks her for help.

Saffron is willing, and so are Cecilia and Fred, but unfortunately they have all been kept in the dark about some details.
