Plants are constantly producing an arsenal of chemical compounds, in response to different challenges and threats in their environment. Humans are now learning how to bind or correlate the self protecting ability of plants and utilize them to enhance or rebalance the health of our own body and mind. In many developing countries, huge proportion of the population depends on traditional practitioners and their vast collection of knowledge on medicinal plants in order to meet health care needs. Although modern medicine may exist side by side with such traditional practice, phytomedicines have often maintained their popularity because of cultural and historical reasons. With increasing awareness of the health hazards and toxicity related with the careless and over use of drugs and synthetic antibiotics, more attention is given to the use of plants and plant based drugs throughout the world.The plant kingdom represents huge reservoir of molecules that are biologically active but only a small number of plants were analyzed and utilized for these biologically active molecules.
