Bret A. Carter is an amateur historian and lifelong resident of Kay County. He is active in the preservation of historic buildings throughout Kay County and the northcentral part of Oklahoma through his work with various individuals and groups, including the Blackwell Top of Oklahoma Historical Society, the Ponca City Landmark Conservancy, the Chilocco National Alumni Association, and Preservation Oklahoma.
